A few months back UK dancehall deejay Mr. Williamz found success with his single (and video) "Ganja Palace", produced by Curtis Lynch on Necessary Mayhem. Earlier today the deejay released a 13 track mixtape titled "Ignition High Power presents Mr. Williamz Gunz, Girlz & Ganja". The mix runs just over 30 minutes and features Williamz laying vocals over familiar hiphop productions kicking off with one you'll recognize from Tupac's "Hit 'Em Up".

While Run The Jewels travel the country on their hot-ticket tour, their DJ, Atlanta's Trackstar The DJ, took time out to release an official companion mix, "The Jewel Runner Tour Mixtape". The 15-track mix features Run The Jewels, Big Boi and Phantogram's Big Grams, Fashawn, Cuz Lightyear, and Boots among others. Some Meow The Jewels was thrown in for good measure along with the recent RTJ performance on Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" with TV On The Radio. Stream and download the mix for free below.

Rubble Kings: The Mixtape

Monday, 05 October 2015 00:15
Over the summer, the Shan Nicholson directed documentary Rubble Kings took audiences on a journey through a gang-riddled 1960's-70's New York. Holding back nothing, the film explored everything from the widespread gang violence and the peace that ended it to the beginnings of what would become hip-hop.

Serving as an audio companion to the film, DJs Sammy Needlz, Rok One, Tahleim and director Shan Nicholson have put together an official Rubble Kings Mixtape. Comprised of music from the era (War, Syl Johnson, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, etc.), the influence on today's music can clearly be heard as many of these tunes have since been sampled time and again.
