Friday, July 8th, LA's Skirball Cultural Center plans a "block party" with their outdoor standing-room-only event, Into the Night: Summer SOULstice, featuring performances by LA artists Gavin Turek, Open Mike Eagle and an all-vinyl soul set from Southern Soul Spinners.

Into the Night: Summer SOULstice The block party inspired Into the Night: Summer SOULstice is the seventh installment in the Skirball's series of late-night museum takeover parties. In addition to live performances, guests are also invited to explore hands-on activities with after-dark access to the galleries during rare late-night gallery hours. Throwback games, soul food and signature cocktails will all be available.

Named a Top Artist to Watch by SPIN Magazine, Los Angeles singer/songwriter Gavin Turek received her start opening for Mayer Hawthorne on his sold-out world tours, also singing on his latest project, Tuxedo. Last year's You're Invited, her project with longtime collaborator TOKiMONSTA, gained recognition by NPR, The Fader, KCRW, and Beats 1 and spawned a sold-out tour across the country.

Into the Night: Summer SOULstice Labelled "one of L.A.'s smartest young voices" by the L.A. Times, Chicago born LA transplant Open Mike Eagle made his debut with 2010's Unapologetic Art Rap. The first rapper to guest on Marc Maron's WTF podcast, Eagle recently debuted his newest single, Admitting the Endorphin Addiction, on Noisey/Vice

DJ collective Southern Soul Spinners will cap the night off with a mix of classic and contemporary soul, and you can count on some soul obscurities thrown in for good measure. The "Southern," a nod to Southern California, are known for their soul, funk and R&B selections which are sure to keep people moving.

The all ages event has a $10 cover and is scheduled to run from 8:00–11:00 p.m. Parking is free with carpool/Uber/Lyft strongly encouraged.
